Vancouver Summer

I am back in Vancouver & happy to be here. The following photos give a rich picture of my life since I arrived home July 1st. After the photos I'll tell you what I am doing now.

None of the art or cars are mine, I just took pictures of things I saw around me. My daughter, her boyfriend & some new friends were happy to pose with the vintage car with trunks on top. That tall ship was parked at the beach a few blocks from my house. And there were lilies in that pond in Vanier Park. Not shabby for surroundings methinks.

I am currently intensely involved in Kokoro Dance's Wreck Beach Butoh project. 22 naked dancers painted white & moving real slow in the sand & water at Vancouver's nude beach. I am one of those dancers & every single muscle in my body knows it. My brain is scrabling to keep up with the young, trained dancers. But George is there & he is 70 & his courage & hard work are my inspiration. This piece will be performed Saturday, Aug. 20th at 12 noon & Aug. 21st at 12:45, at Tower Beach, which you get down to by following a path behind the Museum of Anthropology at UBC & going down a lot of steps.

I am returning to Chiapas in October. My butoh dance friends Koichi & Hiroko will join me in Mexico for November. I am inventing projects & seeking performances for us during that month. You can check them out at www.harupin-ha.org
